Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The prices at The Chippy are simply unbeatable; meals start at just £1, allowing locals to enjoy high-quality food without breaking the bank. The mini fish and chips, at just over £3, is a crowd favorite, generously portioned and served with peas and curry sauce—a must-try!

Customers rave about consistent quality and speedy service. Even during busy hours, food comes out hot and fresh, emphasizing the owners' dedication to maintaining great standards.

The casual atmosphere also draws positive vibes, making it an ideal spot for families with kids. The kids' menu, featuring items like chips in a cup and fish fingers, keeps younger guests satisfied.

Most Disliked

Some patrons express a desire for extended hours, particularly wishing The Chippy would open for Saturday lunch. The current schedule doesn't accommodate late morning cravings, which leaves some customers feeling disappointed.

During peak times, the queue can stretch out the door, which may deter those looking for a quick bite. While the wait is worth it, some patrons may find it challenging when pressed for time.

A few customers mention the lack of seating during busy hours, which could be a drawback for those wanting to dine in rather than take away. But the efficiency of the takeout option often lessens this concern.

Loved my first visit to this chippy! Only went as I'd looked at reviews. Bloody good quality and the price? Well, £5.70 for fish and chips. Best I've had in ages too. The queue was out the door. Can't wait to go back next week!

Known locally as 'Kevin's Chippy', this is certainly the best fish & chip shop in Nelson (& probably the whole of Burnley & Pendle too). The mini fish & chips (don't let the word 'mini' put you off, the mini size fish portion is sometimes way bigger than a regular piece of cod from other shops) costs a little over £3 (yes, you read that right), & that includes a portion of peas & a portion of Chinese curry sauce (which is a must). This place simply cannot be beaten on value for money probably in the whole of Britain. The couple who run it are also very nice & keep the place meticulously clean. A hidden gem. (Just wish they'd open on a Saturday lunchtime as well!)

First class is the only words to describe The Chippy. The batter on the fish is crisp just like it should be. The fish is always very tasty just like it should be. The chips are well cooked just like they should be. The pies and puddings are Hollands so I need say no more on that. Well worth a visit. You won't be disappointed. They put the home of fish and chips, Blackpool, in second place.

Absolute find. Superb Chippy. I had what they called a Mini Fish and Chips with Peas that cost about £ 3. It was spot on. Very pleasant people, Great customer service.
